Divers features two male teenagers on a high architectural diving board framed against a chilled sky. The work is an exploration of human behaviour; the boys must overcome psychological fear if they are to commit to a physical feat. A tense and humorous scene unfolds as the figures face the choice of either accepting the challenge of the high dive or admitting defeat and making the long climb back down. Their expressive body language reveals the thrill of the challenge. As time passes the boys’ characters unfold and the dynamic of their relationship becomes more apparent.
